Sit, Stay, Read: Tulsa’s Dog Training FAQ
You've Got Questions, Tulsa Dog Owners—We’ve Got Answers
Thinking about signing up with Off Leash K9 Training of Tulsa? Whether you’ve got a curious corgi or a rowdy rescue, we know how many questions can come with the dog training journey.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect, how things work, and why so many Tulsa families trust us to help their pups thrive.
Training, Tools, and Your Dog’s Comfort
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes. Our most popular program, the 2-Week Board & Train, comes with a lifetime guarantee. That means continued support when you need it. Ask your Tulsa trainer for the full details.
Will my dog benefit from this training?
Absolutely. Whether your pup is pulling on the leash, ignoring commands, or just struggling to focus, we build training around your dog’s personality and your goals. We’ve worked with every kind of dog you can think of, including many right here in Tulsa, and we’ve seen incredible transformations.
What is an e-collar and how does it work?
An e-collar is a communication tool, not a punishment. It allows you to clearly and consistently signal your dog, even from a distance. Our collars use low-level stimulation (like a gentle tap on the shoulder) to get your dog’s attention and reinforce known commands.
Will the e-collar hurt my dog?
No. We only use high-quality, properly fitted collars that offer low, adjustable levels of stimulation. Most dogs respond to settings so light that humans can’t even feel them.
Will my dog always have to wear the e-collar?
Not necessarily. Once your dog is fully trained, many owners stop using the collar daily. It’s a training tool, not a permanent requirement.
Will my dog hate wearing the e-collar?
Usually not. Dogs often associate the collar with good things like walks, training games, or spending time with you. With the right introduction and positive experiences, the collar becomes just another part of their routine.
Sessions, Schedules, and Suitability
Where do you conduct private sessions?
We train all over the Tulsa area: in public parks, pet-friendly businesses, your backyard, or your neighborhood. We choose settings based on your goals and your dog’s comfort level.
How much time per day do I need to train my dog?
We recommend 30 to 45 minutes a day. This doesn’t have to happen all at once. Short, consistent sessions are the most effective, and we’ll help you fit them into your lifestyle.
At what age can we start e-collar training?
Usually around 5 to 6 months old, depending on your dog’s size and maturity. Not sure if your dog is ready? Reach out, and we’ll help you decide.
What if I have a puppy that’s not 6 months old yet?
Our Puppy Consultation and Online Puppy Training Course are perfect for Tulsa pups under 5 months. These programs focus on confidence-building, crate training, and early social skills.
What if I have a small dog?
We love small dogs. Yorkies, Pomeranians, Chihuahuas—they’re all welcome. Our training methods scale to size and temperament, and we’ve helped plenty of little dogs feel more secure and obedient.
Will this training “fix” my dog’s reactivity or aggression?
While training can’t promise instant results, we’ve worked with many reactive and aggressive dogs with great success. Our structured approach builds trust and communication, giving you tools to navigate challenges together.
Where We Train in Tulsa
We keep things local and realistic. Your training sessions might happen at:
- Hunter Park
- Pet-friendly shopping centers
- Your backyard or front sidewalk
- Quiet neighborhoods for leash work
Training is tailored to real life, not just classroom obedience.

Real problems. Real solutions. Real tail wags.
Not Sure Which Program Fits?
Not every dog needs a 2-week intensive. Some just need a little help staying focused. Others benefit from more hands-on support. We’ll guide you through the options, from one-on-one sessions to full board and train packages.
